Keeping Safe when Scootering

Children in Year 1 thoroughly enjoyed their scooter training alongside Cole from ‘For2Feet’ and Miss Mcguire. The training covered all aspects of scooting from pavement obstructions to driveway dangers. Children were actively involved in the training and encouraged to think about the dangers; make the right decisions and to ensure that they stay safe.

St. Augustine’s Celebrates the Queen’s 90th Birthday

St. Augustine’s children and staff celebrated the Queen’s 90th official birthday wearing red, white and blue clothes and a tiara or a crown.  Our day started with Mr Murray (PGCE student Sedgehill), playing a marvellous rendition of Jerusalem on the violin as the children walked into assembly. Mrs Jarvis spoke about the Queen with the children joining in with snippets of information. The staff and children stood up to sing a rousing rendition of the National Anthem accompanied by Mr Murray.
In the afternoon the children played games and enjoyed ice lollies and cakes provided by the PSA.  We were fortunate to have lovely sunny weather to mark this great occasion.

Nursery children entered the festivities even further by making cucumber sandwiches, jam sandwiches and baking cookies. They sat down at a beautifully decorated table wearing crowns enjoying the sandwiches and biscuits as well as fresh strawberries.
