Mental Health Awareness

Our assembly on Monday focused on mental health and the need for us to look after our mental health just as we look after our physical health. Children were encouraged to talk about their feelings and share any concerns or problems with people around them that they can trust such as parents, teachers and friends. We will continue to look at this very important issue throughout the year and hope to build good habits and resilience in our lovely children.

“When we can talk about our feelings,
they become less overwhelming,
less upsetting and less scary.”
– Fred Rogers

Remembrance

We have a beautiful display in School to commemorate Remembrance Sunday and the 100th Anniversary of the end of World War 1. My enormous thanks to Mrs Thomas for arranging poppies made by every child in the School. The children in Year 6 walked to the war memorial in Downham to join with Bonus Pastor Catholic College for their annual remembrance service.

“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them– Laurence Binyon

Sports Hall Athletics Festival

The sports hall athletics festival was hosted by Bonus Pastor in their amazing sports hall. We welcomed a number of young leaders from the school who assisted in organising the events that included javelin, basketball chest push, speed bounce, long jump and then a host of different running events. They did a superb job ensuring all children had a great time and keeping all the scores.

PSA Cake Sale

Thank you so much to all those who donated home made and shop bought cakes to our sale this week. It was great to see dairy and gluten free options. We made an amazing £266.00 for our fabulous PSA to put towards some lovely treats for our children. One PSA member commented on how lovely the children were by sharing their cakes with others and also giving others money when they didn’t have any. How lovely to see that our children are so well behaved and polite.

Harvest Festival

Thank you to all those who gave so generously to our Harvest appeal. The altar looked beautiful at Monday’s service decorated by a team of our fabulous support staff with all the food you have donated to help those in our local community. It was especially lovely to welcome some children from Watergate School who came along to celebrate with us.
