School Council visits Council Chambers

On Friday 31st January, our school council went to visit the ‘Council Chambers’ along with two other Lewisham schools. The children were given a pack full of information and quizzes, which they had to investigate at the ‘Civic Suite’. The children met Cllr. Jacq who told the children a lot about the history, Lewisham Council’s logo and meaning behind the Mayors Council Chambers, the ‘Chains and Badge of Office’ also the three ‘Maces’ that represent the former and current of the borough, which total to £200,000.00 in value at present.

We also met one of the former ‘Young Mayors’ Cllr. Jacob, who showed and explained the role and how important for young voices to be heard. The children were very excited and could not wait to get back to school to tell their classmates of what they have learnt.
