Varjak Paw

Year 4 are really enjoying this term’s class text ‘Varjak Paw’ by SF Said. Varjak Paw is a Mesopotamian Blue cat who lives in a big house with his family , but when things go wrong he has to go into the ‘Outside’  and use the ‘Way’ to survive in a city full of dangerous dogs, cat gangs and, strangest of all, the mysterious Vanishings. This book is so exciting, the children listen with bated breath and can hardly wait for the next chapter.

The children have written descriptive phrases, and described Varjak’s feelings in an abstract way. They are writing play scripts and researching features of Russian Blue cats. Come and look at their wonderful art work in our classroom.Image result for varjak paw illustrations

Year 1 have started a new topic in art. The children are learning about sculpture. As part of this topic we are exploring the materials used to make sculptures. So far the children have seen examples of wire, metal, wood, clay and paper sculptures.

This week the children made Lego sculptures and explored using colours and different size pieces to create their own Lego Sculpture. All the children enjoyed experimenting with what they could make.
