Year 2 visited Pizza Express Beckenham to support our Design and Technology topic on fruit and vegetables . Children learnt all about fresh healthy ingredients. They were given the opportunity to taste, touch and smell the ingredients. They thoroughly enjoy the session and came away with a tasty pizza they made by themselves.
The children are taking part in house meetings, by the end of the week they will have 4 arts and crafts activities completed. They are all enjoying socailising in their houses and working together. What a great way to end a term.
Year 2 have been learning all about the Great Fire of London. They were taken back in time to 1666 during their visit to St Paul’s Cathedral. The children were taken on a guided walk around the Crypt and Cathedral floor to find memorials from Old St Paul’s that survived the Great Fire. Through storytelling, they learnt about how the fire started in Pudding Lane and quickly spread. With the aid of role play scripts they dressed up and acted out what it was like during the Great Fire of London.
A huge thank you to our parent helpers who made our visit even more special.
Well done to the year 6 children and the staff who took part today in the match. The match was well played and the rest of the school were great spectators. This is one of the traditions we have every summer term and is always enjoyable.
The score was 9-2, well done to the staff team who won.
The children in year 2 are enjoying their gymnastics lessons with Miss Tucker on Tuesdays. As you can see they use big and small apparatus to develop their spatial awareness and different types of movements.
Jordanna, a firefighter, visited our class to talk about the importance of smoke alarms and what we must do if a fire were to occur. We learnt that ‘smoke goes up so we go down’ and that we call 999 to ask for the Fire Brigade, Police or London Ambulance services. It was a interactive workshop and we had the opportunity to ask and answer questions. A big thank you to the LFB for our wonderful workshop.
