Memorial Service in Downham

On Friday, November 10th, Year 5 went to the memorial service at Downham. The service was on the 10th because the 11th (when Remembrance Day actually is – the children have been learning all about it in English) was a Saturday. The service was very poignant with readings and hymns led by students from Bonus Pastor but supported by a large number of local primary schools and members of the community. It was very similar to the memorial service held at the Cenotaph. They played The Last Post to mark the end of the two-minute silence; it was all very proper and grown-up.

“The memorial service made me feel sad because I was thinking about all the people who had given their lives so that I could live freely”. John Richard
