The first ever St Augustine’s Sleepover was held on Friday 29th June to Saturday 30th June in the School Hall. This highly anticipated event for Years 4, 5 and 6 pupils proved to be a highlight of the year for many children. Eager children (and their parents) waited at the school gate with their pyjamas, toothbrushes, teddies and sleeping bags to get back into school. The summer evening activities included paddling, football, races, chalk drawing, “campfire” singing and, the forever favourite, chatting to friends. Before bed there were ice poles (with thanks to the PSA), popcorn and drinks. Then came the excitement of pyjamas and where to sleep in the hall, followed by some cartoons before lights out. Although some children made it their mission to try to stay awake all night, sleep was eventually had by all. An early morning start was followed by a buffet breakfast in the playground. After children had been collected by their parents, the staff went home for a well-deserved rest.
Thank you to all the staff, parents and governors who helped to make the event such a success. We couldn’t have done it without you!
