Welcome to Year Three!

In Year Three we love to learn and there is an awful lot to learn!
Here is just a few of the things you need to know….

Reading:

We love to read in Year Three and have a special time to read everyday, because there are just SO many AMAZING books to read. We need as much time as possible to read as many as we can, or listen to them at story time, because there is NOTHING better than being read to.

English:

We learn how to use a dictionary and a thesaurus and make our writing even more fantastic by using great verbs and adjectives.

Handwriting is very important and when it is really neat we can use a fountain pen.

Maths:

There is so much to learn….. adding and subtracting larger numbers, solving word problems, investigations, multiplying, dividing, using money, telling the time…and much more!

Art:

Art is very important in Year Three. We learn how to use paints, pastels, pencils and to draw anything from plants, shells, buildings, people and animals. We design Roman shields and learn about famous artists and their work.
We even have our own galleries in class, where we can view one another’s work.

Then there is….RE, Science, History, Geography, Music, PE, French and PSHE ! It’s a lot, but somehow we manage to fit it all in.

Homework

In our class homework is given out every Thursday and given in the following Tuesday.
There is a set of spellings to learn each week, plus a piece of English, science or history and some Maths.

It’s fabulous in Year 3!
